Immersion as a lever for professional development !
Active in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the association CEID-Addictions manages nearly ten centres which receive and support people dependent on psychotropic substances (drugs, alcohol) or who have addictive behaviour, related to games or diet.
The Committee for the Study and Information on Drugs and Addictions (CEID-Addictions), is an association founded in Bordeaux in 1972. It works with an average of 7,000 patients and their immediate circles, through its ten centres in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and its 160 employees. It is financed by health insurance, under the control of the Regional Health Agency.

The experience of working in a network
"Addictology is a transverse discipline. Our practitioners, whether they are doctors, nurses, youth leaders, psychologists, employees, social service assistants or structure managers, gain by going elsewhere in Europe to observe how patients are supported, what therapies are used, what new protocols are emerging," says Krassimira Totcheva, a psychologist at CEID-Addictions.
The association intends to become an 'innovative and learning organisation', which develops teams' motivation and skills. CEID-Addictions is keen to help with the improvement of methods of intervention, as well as the service given to dependent people, and their circles.

For this reason, CEID-Addictions has been a member of the European network Ecett-Networks since its creation in 2012, and participates actively in exchanges of knowledge and expertise.

Sharing professional practices
Between 2015 and 2016, thanks to the mobility scholarships from Erasmus +, some twenty of its employees benefited from week-long 'immersion stays', in partner structures in eight European countries. Four of them also attended a training seminar in Poland, organised by the Ecett-Networks network, and devoted to the method of learning through travel.

The aim is then to disseminate this knowledge through a regional seminar which will bring together representatives of the different stakeholders:
· Aquitaine Regional Health Agency
· Addictions Federation.
· Federation of Solidarity Stakeholders
· Community social managers
· Directors of Social Centres.
· Representatives of public authorities.
· Representative of the European partner structures
Beyond the scope of addictology, the beneficiaries' feedback on their experiences will also focus on the methodology of learning through travel (developed by the Ecett-Networks network), aimed at enhancing the contribution of European exchanges in a professional practice
"This new way of enhancing employees' skills is an important lever in their personal and professional development. It stimulates innovation and reflections on the methods of supporting patients ," concluded Krassimira Totcheva.
