ESCAPERS- Intergenerational learning and cultural exchange LTTA

The ESCAPERS Erasmus+ project is driven by a set of ambitious objectives aimed at fostering intergenerational connections

The ESCAPERS Erasmus+ project is driven by a set of ambitious objectives aimed at fostering intergenerational connections, promoting social inclusion for seniors, and contributing to the preservation of European cultural heritage.

The ESCAPERS consortium took part in a Learning Teaching Training Activity (LTTA) event in Dublin in January 2025 hosted by the Gaiety School of Acting (GSA).

What was the purpose of the LTTA event?

The 4 day LTTA event:

  • Was an opportunity for the partners to share knowledge, upskill and playtest the first version of the ESCAPERS Games.Built on the knowledge gained during the writing and researching of the Methodological Guide and allowed partners to put that learning into practice.
  • Was a collaborative event where all participants shared their own skills and knowledge.

In particular, knowledge shared was related to:

  • The difference between Multigenerational and Intergenerational activities, with emphasis on how important it is to have clear explanations and adaptability in your activities. Shared by Eduvita. Game-based learning best practices, with the participants being led through activities to encourage linkages between activities and EU Priorities. Shared by Challedu.
  • The core elements of Escape Games, namely  Immersive storylines, Collaborative challenges, Time pressure, Puzzles & Clues. Shared by OSG.

In addition, a review of the Memory Workshops took place and the linkages between this activity and the development of the ESCAPERS game scenarios was discussed.

Furthermore, the GSA led a session on intergenerational team building and facilitation skills to emphasise the importance of the Storytelling and communication skills.

Equipped with all this knowledge the consortium playtested each game allowing time for review, discussion and suggestions for better facilitation. The LTTA allowed us to really delve into the practicalities of the games, seeing what aspects worked and where improvements were needed. This collaborative approach led to innovative ideas and improvements to the ESCAPERS Games. Each consortium partner brought their own knowledge and skills to the LTTA leading to really fruitful discussions and highlighted the importance of face-to-face discussion and training.

The consortium are really excited to bring the ESCAPERS Games to the next stage of the project, where we will coordinate labs (workshops and trainings) to further test the games and train up adult educators in the methodology.
