The Special Eurobarometer was commissioned by the Directorate-General for Eudcation, Youth, Sport and Culture to assess the attitudes and opinions of European citizens about cultural heritage. It is based on nearly 28.000 personal interviews with European citizens. The following questions were raised: on involvement with cultural heritage (visits to museums, concerts…), perceived importance of cultural heritage, participation and barriers to access, values attached to cultural heritage and culture, importance of protection of cultural heritage.
