What is FOMO?
Let's talk about something we all feel sometimes: FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
Scrolling through your feed and seeing endless amazing trips, parties, and perfect moments? It's easy to feel like you're not doing enough. But here’s the media literacy perspective: social media is a highlight reel, not the full picture.
These platforms are designed to show you the most exciting content, which can warp your perception of reality.
In our everyday life the pressure can be even higher! Remember:
1. Critique the Content: Acknowledge that you're seeing a curated version of someone's life, not the whole story (or the travel stress and budgeting that went with it!).
2. Embrace JOMO (Joy Of Missing Out): It's okay to have a quiet night in or to choose a different path. Your experience is uniquely YOURS.
3. Be Present: The most memorable moments often happen when your phone is in your pocket. Immerse yourself in the here and now.
Your mental well-being is paramount. Let's focus on authentic experiences, not just curated ones.
