New Designer’s Platform Project at the Torino FashionMatch 2020

New Designer's Platform | Vision.Idea.Product Enterprise.

Learn to Re-create recently attended the Torino FashionMatch event where our Creative Director, Olusola McKenzie, delivered a presentation on our ongoing Erasmus+ KA2 New Designer’s Platform Project to promote the project objectives and invite stakeholder engagement. The presentation discussed the project’s mission, the transnational project meetings, the digital tools that are used and the Fashion Production and Creative Enterprise (FPCE) Course which trains the learners in garment and textile production and enterprise development.

This event gave us the opportunity to network with other organisations and businesses about potential collaboration opportunities. We have received interest from some of the Torino FashionMatch attendees and hope to create effective partnerships and work together on new projects.

The Torino FashionMatch 2020 is the innovative and international platform that facilitates the creation of business agreements within the Fashion Industry. This B2B event is organized by Unioncamere Piemonte – a member of Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) and Textile and Fashion Sector Group – committed to bringing European fashion and textile producers together to enhance opportunities and commercial partnerships finding partners for joint projects, exploring new markets as well as sharing knowledge, ideas, innovation and inspiration. The event was attended by 482 attendees from 43 countries and 5 continents.

Our project is looking to develop more European partnerships

The New Designer’s Platform project has been designed to give vulnerable adults, migrants and socially isolated individuals access to an educational programme which will help them to develop their own business in the fashion industry. The project aims to address the significant skills gaps in the European Fashion Industry by delivering a fashion business start-up education programme. Increasing the availability of skilled workers is necessary to the fashion industries to be able to stay competitive on a global scale.

The course is divided into three levels:

1. International Fashion Retail and Marketing (including enterprise development skills)

2. Circular Economy and Brand Planning

3. Production of a Range of Textile Craft Items and Digital Pattern Production

We are currently working with two other partners in Sweden and Portugal. Learn to Re-create has successfully implemented the project with our partners and we are now looking to develop more European partnerships.
