INSAFE (European Safer Internet Network) network was established in 2004 within the scope of the Safe Internet Program established in the European Commission in 1999 to support children and young people to use the Internet safely and to protect them from illegal and harmful content of the Internet. INSAFE, established to pioneer awareness-raising activities within the framework of the conscious and safe use of the Internet, is a network that provides the coordination of Safe Internet Centers in Europe today.
 
Safe Internet Day (GIG), organized by INSAFE network in February every year, has been organized since 2004 and will be celebrated in 130 countries around the world this year. In Turkey, Secure Internet Day activities were started to be realized in 2010. This year's Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on February 5, 2019, all over the world and Turkey.
