Policing the Community Conference and Community Awards 2019

The Howard League for Penal Reform will be holding the Policing the Community Conference and Community Awards 2019 in London on 12 November. The event will explore how to address the issue of too many people being brought into conflict with the criminal justice system and consider alternative services they could be referred to.

Delegates will be able to discuss best practice in policing and diversion from crime and custody. Policy and practice will be explored in a number of areas, including:

  • Sentencing and women
  • Policing the community
  • Criminalisation of children in residential care
  • Policing

 

The Community Awards will also be presented at the conference – these awards recognise projects and organisations whose work is exceptional and above what is considered normal service delivery. Successful community projects will be discussed and Prue Leith, a judge on the Great British Off, will present the winners with their awards.
