TCA Report: Key enablers of a transforming digital education ecosystem, Riga Lettland

Attending the TCA in Riga on "digital ecosystems" was a true highlight, offering top-notch networking and expert insights.

A TCA in Riga and on the topic of "digital ecosystems", the expectations were already high and these were definitely fulfilled. The Baltic states and their Scandinavian neighbours presented themselves as experts on topics such as digitalisation, digital literacy, AI and digital pedagogy at this event.

Since we as a company are active at the interface between education and digitalisation, I was particularly motivated to take part in this TCA by the networking opportunities and experience reports from best practice projects. In the end, however, the package on offer was even bigger and, thanks to the dedicated organisation, one of the best network & conference events I have been able to attend so far. The event pursued a holistic approach, whereby digital networking opportunities were created weeks before the event via Padlet, hybrid representatives from the EU Commission were connected from Brussels, interactive tools such as Mentimeter were used and a thematically cohesive framework was created, including speakers on the legal basis for AI, digital well being and flow in the digital age. The social & networking dinner in the evening at the Digital Art House [https://digitalarthouse.eu/matters] was particularly special, perfectly rounding off the supporting programme with its mix of restaurant and digital art exhibition.

All in all, the 2,5-day event enabled participants to immerse themselves in a working atmosphere that supports and motivates digital collaboration and realistically explores boundaries and possibilities. The setting with elaborate presentations, digital tools for participation and outstanding experts with up to 30 years of experience in the field of digitalisation at micro and macro level was inspiring. For me, the motto of the entire TCA was: "We know that digital tools bring problems, but they also bring so many opportunities. Let's take a realistic look today at how we can get the best out of it for ourselves and take our colleagues with us". I found this working atmosphere incredibly motivating to compare the knowledge gained directly with the reality of my work.

The choice of speakers also made it particularly clear to me that the organisers are not only interested in imparting specialist knowledge, but also in a holistic feeling for digitalised cooperation. Viesturs Dūle as a former actor and now coach laid the foundation for the "HOW do we want to work together" of the event (and beyond), Evija van der Beek as a digital well being coach also ensured that the "HOW do we want to deal with digital media/devices" was brought into focus in order to create awareness without demonising. The selection of best practice projects also showed that people are not only enthusiastic about digital projects because they are new, but especially because they can bring a concrete improvement to our everyday lives. This selection, as well as the very high use of digital devices and tools in the TCA days, also shows once again that the organisers have done an enormously good job, know what they are doing and implement concepts not only because they are NEW, but because the almost 100 participants can benefit from them.

All in all, I can thank NA for this organisation and passion and am happy for everyone who is able to attend such an event in Riga in the future. It should also be mentioned that Riga is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. TCAs in Riga and a visit to the city are worth it every time, thank you!
