Municipalities as among the effective local government institutions in Turkey, produce services that are closely related to the lives of citizens. It increases the living standards of the citizens by providing the services it produces through projects.

Muğla Municipality gained metropolitan status on 06.12.2012 with the Law No. 6360 and consisted of 13 districts in total, including the central district of Menteşe. Muğla Metropolitan Municipality has a wide service area with an area of 13 thousand 247 square kilometers and a coastal length of 1479 kilometers.

Metropolitan Municipality serves with all its departments to a specific geographical area in terms of history, nature, culture and economy in Muğla with all her provinces, which is the one of the most special cities of Turkey with its natural and cultural richness.

Our Municipality; It is one of the local authorities that provide the closest service to the citizen in areas that are closely related to daily life such as education, health, culture, tourism, arts, sports, agriculture, environment, natural disasters, transportation, development, infrastructure and superstructure. Our municipality services; It has a management approach that is transparent, participatory, open to innovation, accountable and fulfills without compromising its merit principles.

A total of 3,006 personnel, consisting of 393 civil servants, 208 contracted personnel, 348 workers, 1.770 MUBEP personnel and 287 service procurement personnel, work within the Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and in 13 districts. With the human, physical, technical and financial capacity of our municipality, activities are carried out to achieve the following objectives:

     1. To create a healthy, balanced and natural environment,

2. To make social municipality and healthy life prevail throughout the province,

3. To make Muğla a richer city in terms of cultural life,

4. To construct and create urban design with aesthetic understanding,

5. To establish a safer, fluent and environmentally friendly transportation system,

6. To produce projects that offer added value to the city economy,

7. To endear sports to all age groups, especially the young population,

8. To make our city an address of peace and trust,

9. To maximize our institutional capacity,

10. Realizing municipal services with a participatory and democratic approach,

11. To carry out special projects for the disadvantaged groups of the society such as women, old, young, children and disabled people.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality (MMM) is the largest local public institution in the city. Therefore, it is one of the most important contractors of local public services. In this context, it is always in close contact and cooperation with the other partners of the city and carries out its services with a participatory approach. 

Its mission (reason for existence) as it is written in the Strategic Plan of our Muğla Metropolitan Municipality; "To make our Muğla a livable and sustainable city for all living and non-living components on it" by taking its power only from our people. In order to realize this mission, many projects that differ from each other in terms of scope, time, budget and quality have started to come up.

Our Municipality; It is aware that Muğla will serve regional development and increase the brand value of our region by increasing its strong corporate structure and experience with international collaborations on this road, which started with the vision of "being the most livable city in the world that can be left to future generations. The Project Unit formed within our municipality also works on international grants and cooperation projects to be carried out with this awareness.
