Learning more about Global Citizenship and Multilingual Competences

Global Citizenship and multilingualism are two topics that are frequently discussed when thinking about the contemporary language classroom. Many national curricula already acknowledge the importance of teaching these skills in school and our project aims to support teachers of any subject by supplying teaching materials. However, we are also aware that some teachers may not feel sufficiently prepared to teach these subject. We have thus also created self-study materials which are of interest for adult education too. These materials deal with the following five topics: 1) Connecting global and local issues. 2) Promoting ecoliteracy. 3) Questioning images: Representation and critical visual literacy. 4) Recognising diversity: Towards inclusive, multilingual practices in secondary classrooms. 5) Hunting fake news through critical reading. Our website also offers an interactive reflection tool to engage with the values, attitudes, knowledge, and skills that support the successful implementation of Global Citizenship and Multilingual Competences into the regular teaching practice.
