Memorandum of Understanding signed this week between Lifelong Learning and Gemma

Let's do it together: Continuing to strengthen learning for adults
Through an agreement that was signed on Monday 3rd April, 2023, a series of sessions which is related to financial education will continue to be given by the Directorate for Research, Lifelong Learning and Employability within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation in collaboration with GEMMA, within the Ministry for Social Policy and Children's Rights.

Education Minister Clifton Grima said that the work being done in Lifelong Learning, is bearing its fruit. In fact, the latest statistics released by Eurostat indicate that the participation of adults in this type of learning is increasing, so much so that by the end of 2021, Malta had a rate of 13.8%, compared with 10.8%, which is the European average. This rate is the highest ever recorded for our country. "Financial education is an important aspect of education, as formulated in the National Curriculum Framework document. As a government, we are committed to helping our students of all ages in the best way we can and provide them with the necessary tools to help them further develop their skills and abilities", said Minister Grima

The Minister for Social Policy and Children's Rights Michael Falzon stressed the importance of these two ministries working hand in hand. Minister Falzon spoke about how the ultimate goal is to strengthen the lives of individuals in our society through a course like this and other initiatives. Minister Falzon said that "Gemma" is an investment concept that focuses on financial capacity. He stressed that it is essential to keep learning so as not to fall behind. "We have to think about tomorrow. We have to keep working together, because with this is the only way we can increase the financial capacity of both children and adults", concluded Minister Michael Falzon".
Personal Finance - Managing your Money sessions
This learning series, which started last October and for which registrations will open again in July 2023, deal with the financial aspect from every angle and are important for all those who want to improve both their personal situation and their prospects for the future. This series of sessions is also a reflection of the importance of education for adults because it is an opportunity to improve one's studies and one's career.
The sessions, known as 'Personal Finance - Managing your Money sessions' is spread over 8 weeks and covers topics related to the financial aspect, from how to draw up a personal budget, how to plan spending, up to various aspects of the financial world.
