Serik HEM
Serik Halk Eğitimi Merkezi (Serik Public Education Center) is a well-established public educational institution located in the Serik district of Antalya, Türkiye, and operates in line with the principle of lifelong learning. Active since 1975, the center stands out with its inclusive education approach, promoting sustainable development and the multifaceted growth of individuals through non-formal education. The primary goal of the institution is to enhance individuals’ knowledge, skills, and competencies; to support their personal, social, and vocational development; and to contribute to social progress on both local and national levels. In this context, the center provides accessible, inclusive, and open learning environments for individuals of all ages and educational backgrounds.

Disadvantaged individuals, whether employed or unemployed
In order to increase their active participation in social and economic life, reveal their potential, and improve their quality of life, the center organizes hundreds of courses and workshops each year.
AREAS OF EDUCATION
The courses offered at Serik Public Education Center aim to develop participants’ life skills, help them acquire professions, and empower them socially.

English and Russian courses at A1, A2, and B1 levels
Vocational Training:
Sewing, embroidery, home textiles, cooking, handicrafts
Information & Digital Literacy:
Computer operation, Arduino programming, Artificial Intelligence literacy, digital production tools
Personal Development:
First aid, hygiene education, addiction prevention, chess
Arts & Culture:
Turkish folk dances, Turkish folk music choir, bağlama (traditional instrument), rhythm, visual arts, marbling and calligraphy
Women & Family Education:
Skincare, hand and foot care, basic health knowledge
Public Health & Agriculture:
Beekeeping, hunting, natural living skills
These courses not only support individual development but also contribute to rural development, local production, and the economic participation of women.
BEST PRACTICE: “My Mom Sews My School Uniform”
With this unique project implemented in village schools with multi-grade classrooms, mothers who receive training in rural Village Life Centers sew school uniforms for their own children. This initiative supports both economic empowerment of women and community solidarity. The project has also been acknowledged by the Ministry of National Education as a best practice model.
GREEN HOMELAND (YEŞİL VATAN) PROJECT
In line with the “Century of Türkiye Maarif Model”, our institution adopts the approach of raising environmentally conscious and responsible individuals through the motto:
“To Protect the Green Homeland is to Protect the Nation.”
Throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, environmental-themed events and training activities will be organized to raise ecological awareness among both students and adult learners, contributing to sustainable development goals.
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Serik Public Education Center places great emphasis on international cooperation, especially through European Union projects and aims to take an active role in Erasmus+ and EPALE platforms. Our institution seeks partnerships with public bodies, NGOs, and education centers across Europe to facilitate knowledge exchange and the transfer of good practices.
