EPALE wants to hear from you!

We have prepared a survey to know better what are your habits and experiences using EPALE and your suggestions to help us improve. The survey also includes a section with specific questions on the conference.

It’s a short series of questions, which should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete and it will be available until 2 November

The survey at the moment is available in English, but it will be soon translated into all EPALE languages.

Is learning later in life just as much to do with connecting with others as well as the learning taking place? If so, is the promotion on the uses of technology towards people of an older age being done in the right way.eg, to focus on the connecting aspect and less so the learning aspect?

Hi, I promote bridge playing, not only as a mean to keep sharp (mentally) long time, but also as a way to join generations and people from different places/experiences, who can share their hobby together with developing soft skills, useful in everyday life, as cooperation, planning, taking quick decisions, stress resistance, responsibility - the list is long. There are no restrictions connected to age, gender, place, disability, language - the common passion overcomes it. I do invite you to join: find a place (in Poland we have Third Generation Universities, for example), gather people (info in social media, mouth-to-mouth, posters, local press) and start a course (for beginners or advanced - depends who wants to participate) with an instructor (short lectures followed by practical classes). It really works and brings joy, as much as a goal to get up, that equals as a remedy against the plague of XXI century - loneliness, attacking both young and elderly.

The Digital Skills and Jobs Platform (DSJP) provides a wide range of high-quality information, resources and opportunities related to the area of digital skills and jobs across all levels, from very basic to advanced. It has been created as one of the initiatives launched under the Connecting Europe Facility Programme.

It will contribute to the Digital Europe Programme – an ambitious EU programme that strives to make Europe more competitive in the global digital economy through digital capacity-building and ensuring a wide use of digital technologies across the EU. Enforcing the digital skills pillar of the programme, the Platform aspires to boost the digital competencies of European society and workforce.

Also starting from Divina’s keynote I’d like to raise attention again on critical digital skills: how can we critically evaluate information and sources in the online environment? Do you have any suggestions for fact-checking? And what role does technology plays in this?

Curious about the DIGIT-AL toolbox?

Democracy and rights-based education is empowering learners to exercise and defend their rights and responsibilities, and to co-create the society. Any successful democratic transformation requires citizens understanding the change and willing to involve in discourses and decisionmaking.

Have a look at the website to deepen Nils Zimmermann's intervention.

Thanks Divina for the insights! It seems that citizens’ participation is key for democratizing the media landscape. If citizens participate in the media also as creators, do you think that the very concept of citizenship might change?
