ART AS A BRIDGE TO INCLUSIVE ADULT EDUCATION

The Institute for Education and Culture Črnomelj, in collaboration with the French organization CREA, is participating in the Erasmus+ small partnership project "From Art to the World". This project connects art and adult education with the aim of creating a more inclusive, accessible, and creative learning environment, particularly for vulnerable groups.

Art as a Tool for Inclusion

The main goal of the project is to highlight the advantages of artistic approaches in the context of non-formal and informal education. Art – especially theatrical methods – can be a powerful tool for expression, connection, and inclusion, as we experienced firsthand during the recent visit of our French partners.

In April, we hosted CREA at ZIK Črnomelj, where they conducted a series of educational activities for our teachers, instructors, and program participants. French mentors introduced various theatrical approaches that educators can use when working with adults, particularly with those from vulnerable groups. The workshops were filled with energy, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm for the new methods of teaching.

Shared Learning and Exchange of Good Practices

The From Art to the World project is not only about transferring knowledge but also about creating an opportunity for exchanging experiences and best practices between partners from different cultural environments. Together with CREA, we identified numerous common challenges, as well as opportunities, to use art in building bridges and reducing barriers to adult education.

Video Guide for Educators

As one of the key tools of the project, we are also developing a video guide on theatrical methods for adult educators. This guide will serve as a practical resource to help educators incorporate artistic approaches into their teaching practices, especially when working with participants facing various life challenges.

Project’s Key Goals

  • Highlighting the benefits of artistic approaches in adult education.

  • Improving the quality of learning for vulnerable target groups.

  • Encouraging creativity, self-expression, and inclusion.

  • Exchanging best practices among project partners.

  • Raising awareness of the importance of art in education.

  • Promoting active citizenship through art.

  • Creating useful resources for adult educators.

This project is yet another proof that art is more than just an aesthetic experience – it is a path to connection, understanding, and growth.
