9th ICAE World Assembly
On the occasion of the General Assembly of the International Council of Adult Education (ICAE), Montreal will host from June 11 to 14, 2015, the main international gathering of civil society organizations concerned by Adult Lifelong Learning and Education. The ICAE World Assembly is the main civil society event that brings together youth and adult educators, along with learners from around the world every four years. It is a celebration of the importance of adult education for the construction of just and equitable societies.
The official opening on Thursday evening will highlight the cooperation between the women's movement and that of adult education in the context of combating exclusion. On Friday morning, there will be a discussion of the Education Post-2015 agenda as it faces the challenges of climate change. In the afternoon, there will be dozens of workshops organized by organizations here and abroad allowing discussion and interaction on the concerns of these groups, in the context of the Assembly`s themes for the event and the Education Post-2015 targets.
The final day, Saturday June 13, begins with a plenary entitled Voices in Dialogue, which aims to create an intergenerational dialogue on global issues concerning the development of the right to education and lifelong learning.
Early registration is open until May 15, at the regular rate of 300 CAD$. After May 15 2015, the registration fee for the World Assembly will be 400 CAD$.
There are no registration fees for members and people representing organizations that are members of the International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) from countries of the South or who have a special status. For their registration they have to obtain a special code from ICAE. All requests must be made, before the registration deadline, by writing to secretariat@icae.org.uy
You must apply for the necessary government-issued Canadian visa yourself in order to visit Canada.
It will be our pleasure to provide an invitation letter to any participants who request one. This person must, however, pay the registration fee to attend the World Assembly before requesting an invitation letter.

To review priorities for lifelong learning and education, and to develop strategies for action at a global, regional and local level.
Plenary sessions will have translation facilities in English, French and Spanish. Workshops will where possible be bi- or tri-lingual, and the language of sessions will be clearly identified in the final programme.
