Identifying the problems faced by the visually impaired learners in education, developing solutions for the open and distance learning area
In the literature, it is emphasized in different studies that recruitment of all sensory organs for effective teaching increases the success of teaching. However, it is known that learners with visual impairment experience various problems in learning. Technology-based developments provide important educational opportunities for visually impaired individuals. However, there may be insufficient points in the solution of the problems. In the courses where special formulas or symbols are found, it is revealed that the screen reader software is insufficient. From this point of view, the teaching of symbol-based courses is a problem that should be examined in this sense. Therefore, the main problem of the study is to determine the points of learning difficulties in visually impaired individuals.
The aim of this study is to determine the points of learning disabilities in the educational life of the visually impaired individuals based on the literature and offer solutions. In this study, a narrative literature review technique, which is one of the literature types, was used in this study. In this respect, opinions and suggestions regarding the problem are presented.
