AMA - Centar za negu čoveka i prirode (Eng. Amma - Centre for the Care of People and Nature) is a non-profit civil association founded in 2013 as a platform for the development and implementation of innovating programs within environmental protection, organic gardening/permaculture, sustainable development, rural development and communities.
Amma’s vision: The world where Humans live as part of Nature, not separate from It.
Amma’s mission: To help create a more sustainable and respectful way of living by awakening virtues through selfless service for the people
Guiding principles: Nurturing, Creativity & Innovation, Commitment, Sustainability, Personal development
Target groups: People within organic agriculture (urban and rural), specifically youth, women, children and minorities
Amma's goals:
- Supporting the personal development (physical, emotional and, spiritual)
- Improving the quality of life in the community
- Nurturing plants, animals and people and as such nurturing the Planet
- Educating the public in the fields of the activities
- Developing and improving of these fields
- Promoting the values of these fields and healthy life styles in general
- Bringing together people, experts and legal entities.
Amma's memberships:
- “Federation of WWOOF Organizations” (FoWO), United Kingdom: 61 member organizations;
- “Green Friends – Europe”
The word “amma” means “mother” in Sanskrit, and, like a mother cares for her children, so Amma wishes to affirm the concept of „care/nurturing“ for people and nature in contrast to current „managing“ of natural and human resources.
