The Journey of Strenghten Womens'

Date: 26-30 /05/2025
Place: Romania
Project: Erasmus+ Adult Education Project
Participants: 6 women from Türkiye who attended the Izmit Public Education Center course
Every journey we take with Erasmus+ projects turns into a new story of learning, empowerment and solidarity. In this article, I would like to share with you our Digital Skills and Literacy training that we carried out in Romania and the unique experiences we gained during this process.
Story of the Project: Why This Project?
In this age where digitalization is at the center of our lives, increasing the digital literacy levels of women in particular is no longer a need, but a necessity.
Many of our participants,
. Previously, they had limited access to digital tools,
. They did not actively use computers and the internet,
. They experienced various difficulties in their daily lives due to lack of digital literacy.
This project was born out of this very need:
-To integrate women into the digital world,
-To help them gain self-confidence through technology,
-To facilitate their daily lives and social participation
EDUCATION CONTENT AND GAINS
During the training process in Romania, 6 of our women carried out practical workshops with participants from different European countries. Topics covered during the training:
Basic Digital Literacy: Fundamentals of computers and the internet, safe internet use
Mobile Applications: Functional applications in daily life (e-government, online shopping, banking)
Digital Content Production: Preparing simple visuals, making presentations
Digital Security: Password Security, protection from online scams
European Digital Society: Digitalization trends in Europe, trending rights
EXPERIENCES FROM WOMEN'S VOICES
Some of the most striking statements from our participants were:
"I went abroad for the first time in my life and the things I learned there gave me self-confidence. Now I can do my banking myself."
"I used to only use my phone to make calls. Now I can buy tickets online and shop online."
"Before I came here, I was saying, "I can't do it." Now I say, "I can."
Intercultural Learning
Education was not limited to digital skills. Our participants met women from different countries and;
. They learned about the lives of women from different cultures.
. They chatted about the roles of women in digital life in Europe,
. They had cultural exchanges, and made friends.
Our Goals for the Future
This project is not the end for us, it is a new beginning. When we return, through the Public Education Centers, we aim to;
1- Open digital literacy courses for women,
2- Follow good practices in the EPALE community,
3- Lead the way in empowering more women with new Erasmus projects.
Result: The Strong Voice of Women in the Digital World
With this project, we saw once again that the most effective tool for women's empowerment is education. Digital literacy is not just about using technology, but also about gaining self-confidence, connecting with the world and It also brings with it standing on its own feet.
We will continue to touch the lives of women with Erasmus+ projects. Because we believe that;
The empowerment of a woman is the empowerment of a society.
