Lundavalkomsten Sweden

We assist adults who lack basic knowledge of the Swedish language with their application for Swedish language programmes (sfi) and map their educational background, work and life experiences and possible previous Swedish language skills to find them a school and a course that will give them a solid start in learning a new language.
At Lundavälkomsten's adult department, we meet with newly arrived adult immigrants who have come to Sweden and Lund and wish to study or sign up for the Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) language program. SFI is a professional educational language program offered by municipalities in Sweden, with a syllabus determined by the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket). The language program is free of charge.
We meet around 1500 students per year and map their previous educational and working backgrounds, as well as other experiences that may contribute to their language learning experience. The students' educational backgrounds can range from short or non-existent to master's or higher levels. Based on our mapping, the students are placed in different study paths where the teaching is adjusted to their backgrounds. We also conduct level tests for students who already have previous knowledge of the Swedish language.
