EPALE UK interview with Dr Marion Allison (Learning and Development Standards Council Scotland)
This video is from the series of interviews with Adult Education providers and professionals across the UK, that were conducted following the EPALE UK and the Learning & Work Institute's joint conference ‘Upskilling Pathways: implications for the adult learning workforce’.
The CLD Standards Council Scotland is the professional body for people who work or volunteer in community learning and development in Scotland.They are a member led organisation. Their approach and work plans to deliver their core responsibilities are defined by their member committees and based on feedback from the wider membership.
Their core responsibilities are:
- Deliver a professional approvals structure for qualifications, courses and development opportunities for everyone involved in CLD
- Maintain a registration system available to practitioners delivering and active in CLD practice
- Develop and establish a model of supported induction, CPD and training opportunities
Dr Marion Allison is the Head of the CLD Standards Council. She has over 20 years’ experience in the sector as a Youth Work Manager, Associate Assessor for HMI and also lectured on the BA/BA(HONS) Community Education Course at the University of the West of Scotland. Her doctoral research focuses on young people, entrepreneurship and social networks.
