İzmir Olgunlasma Enstitüsü

Izmir Maturation Institute was established in 1961 as a non-profit public organization with the principle of Lifelong Learning Institutes. We aim to shed light on the cultural heritage of Turkey, to preserve it and to pass it to future generations.  Our institution provides training (formal -informal-nonformal) for protecting, developing, spreading art then transferring it to new generations. Every year, dozens of trainees attend traditional Turkish arts courses, which are one of our most important courses in our institute. Products are revealed in these areas. These products are promoted nationally and internationally through exhibitions, fashion shows and workshops. In this way, we bring our rich cultural heritage to a wider audience while unearthing and preserving our original arts and crafts that are about to disappear. We reveal the depth of Turkish culture by composing it with contemporary textures. We are building bridges between traditional arts and contemporary arts by adapting our core culture to contemporary and introducing them in new products. Our aim is to bring the magnificent Turkish culture to the world with designs that combine contemporary arts with traditional handicrafts and to bring them back to daily life. In our institute where we have undertaken many important works, we have a museum and exhibition hall where we exhibit the products we designed, and where we preserve the products and ethnographic values that have been brought to our institute by donations from the Aegean Region.

Our main activities are to:

-Search, develop and also transmit the Cultural values, especially the traditional hand-crafts, clothing and cultural characteristics of Turkey to future generations without compromising the original from the archive and the museum.

-Enrich, design and develop the appropriate prototypes and serial production through the theme chosen by the Institute.
