The Adult Literacies in Scotland 2020: Strategic Guidance (ALIS 2020) document sets out four overarching outcomes:

• improved access to literacies learning and opportunities

• high-quality learning and teaching

• improved infrastructure

• Evidence of impact.

It aims to promote equal access to and participation in literacies learning for all adults.

From March to May 2015 a survey was launched to designed to capture progress since the introduction of ALIS 2020 from 2010 – 2015.

The report is characterised by key strengths and areas for further development with three overarching themes identified contributing to the overall strategy of ALIS 2020
