Dear EPALE colleagues,

Literacy Day and European Day of Languages

On Literacy Day EPALE hosted its first online discussion where experts in the field and users discussed different questions on literacy. In case you missed it, you can catch up on the discussion highlights here (EN).

September was also the month for the European Day of Languages. The EPALE national teams celebrated with events and uploaded topical content (EN, FR, DE, IT, ES, PL). We’ve also prepared a series of interesting case studies in the resource centre (EN). For all language enthusiasts out there make sure you check out our list of the best free language learning websites (EN).

EPALE has also got some exciting content around European Sports Week. Our guest blogger Richard Bailey wrote a compelling piece on why education needs sport (EN) and we’ve published an inspiring case study about how sports can remove barriers when teaching adults with mental disabilities (EN).

News from around Europe

Don’t miss – blog posts

Don’t miss David Mallows’s blog post where he talks about a project aimed at developing family literacy schemes for the Roma community (EN). Again on the topic of minorities, our thematic coordinator Ian Atkinson wrote an interesting piece about the MATCH – a two year Grundtvig Learning Partnership project that helps integrate migrants through sport (EN). And Simon Broek talked about the underestimated contextually embedded learning programmes (EN, FR, ES, IT, DE, PL).
