Teaching Skills: The Effective Lecturer – Becoming a Psychiatry Lecturer

The Royal College of Psychiatrists in London are holding the Teaching Skills: The Effective Lecturer event, designed to introduce those at FY1&2, CT1-3 and ST4-6 training levels to what is required to make an effective psychiatry lecturer. Delegates will become familiar with different learning styles and how these relate to competence and Kolb’s learning cycle. The event will focus on the need for a structured approach when preparing and delivering a lecture. Consideration will also be given to taking feedback on board in order to develop further as a lecturer and how feedback can be provided in a constructive and properly structured way.

The agenda features a welcome session, an introduction to the theoretical background to teaching, a session on preparing a lecture and delivering it, and feedback group sessions. There is also time for refreshment breaks and lunch.
