INCLUSION STARTS WITH I- LEARNING TO LIVE TOGETHER

Between 27.04.2022 - 06.05.2022 I participated in the course Inclusion starts with I learning to live together, organized in Nice, France, by New Horizons, together with other participants from countries belonging to the European Union.

This mobility, funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus + Program, was carried out within the project Mobility in the field of Adult Education, reference number 2021-1-RO01-KA121-ADU-000007251, with an implementation period of 15 months (01/09/2021 ). - 30/11/2022), the first project after obtaining the Erasmus Accreditation for Erasmus + Mobility in the Field of “Adult Education” (Accreditation number: 2020-1-RO01-KA120-ADU-095561).

One of the objectives of the Erasmus Accreditation is "Acquiring European methods and techniques for promoting gender equality, non-discrimination and sustainable development in the activities organized by the European Dialogues for Adults Association", so the training activity perfectly met our needs.

On the first day I attended the opening course: Ask me-let’s get to know each other. After the presentations were made, I listened with interest and memorized interesting information about the Carousel Method: contributions, themes, expectations, basic rules of the intercultural framework. We understand that we can use these results to develop the feeling of solidarity between people, to find common solutions to develop problems related to inclusion, especially by cultivating faith and increasing responsibility for the outcome of collective activities.

In the following days I listened to interesting courses on the connection between culture and inclusion; prejudices and limits of tolerance; stereotypes and prejudices; the basics of inclusive education; communication and inclusive education, etc. It has always been emphasized during class that by social inclusion we mean respect for the status and rights of all people in a society, and they must have the opportunity to participate in a relevant way in its life and to enjoy equal treatment, with the others.

According to the report of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, an important role of education is to strengthen social cohesion and facilitate people's access to an active working life. They must be able to learn "intercultural communication", ie the ability of two people from different cultures to understand each other. Through the process of learning a foreign language, a person has access to a whole new and unknown world. People may become acquainted with the great spiritual riches of that nation or culture, but the language itself, taken as such, does not implicitly provide all this information. Therefore, learning a foreign language must be closely connected with education about the culture, life and people who speak it daily as their mother tongue. Therefore, in the learning process it is important to acquire not only linguistic, pragmatic and functional skills, but also sociolinguistic ones.

In conclusion, I participated in an interesting course, in which, according to the presentation so far, I consider that both my personal goals and those pursued by the European Dialogues Association have been achieved.
