Lectures on "Image" live on the web

From February 2016 on, the Fondazione San Carlo in Modena broadcasts live on its website ( the six lectures of the cycle “Immagine. Forme di conoscenza e teorie della rappresentazione” (Image. Forms of Knowledge and Theories of Representation), organized by the Centro Culturale. The lectures, which will take place between February and March, aim to analyze the role of images in contemporary societies through an interdisciplinary approach. The first event is scheduled forFriday, February 5, at 17.30 with the conference of Umberto Curi, Professor Emeritus of History of Philosophy at the Università di Padova, L’immagine e il suo doppio. La condizione umana tra identità e alterità. Subsequent lessons are scheduled on the following dates: February 12 (Anna Ottani Cavina, Johns Hopkins University, Bologna); February 19 (Felice Cimatti, Università della Calabria); February 26 (Michele Smargiassi, journalist of «la Repubblica»); March 11 (Alfonso M. Iacono, Università di Pisa); March 18 (Fulvio Carmagnola, Università di Milano-Bicocca). All lectures will begin at 17.30. The program is available at is external)


On the website of the Fondazione San Carlo are also hosted the texts and the audio and video recordings related to the cultural activity carried out by the Fondazione in recent years. This archive includes over 300 documents that allow to read, to listen, and in some cases to see, the conferences of the Centro Culturale, the Centro Studi Religiosi and the Scuola internazionale di Alti Studi “Scienze della cultura”.
