[Portraits] When we are learning, the slightest progress is a victory

From 8 to 15 September 2019 the 6th edition of the National Days of Action against Illiteracy (JNAI) took place. This year, the theme of the national campaign was: “When we are learning, the slightest progress is a victory”, honouring victories over illiteracy, and recognising people’s progress through portraits. Daring to start learning again can be a challenge. The ANLCI strives to reflect the commitment of those who have found the courage to emerge from illiteracy. It has invited people who have followed a basic training course in organisations in Normandy (ACSEA Formation, La Boîte aux lettres, ENEFA and EPIDE) to participate in this campaign.

As for the 2017 campaign, the ANLCI invites organisations to personalise the campaign by inviting the learners they support to pose for a portrait, and send the images to the ANLCI which takes care of image processing. New in 2019: people can add a description of their choice that best represents the feeling they had at the end of their training, often illustrating their improved autonomy on a daily basis. The organisations involved have played the game and are providing us with beautiful images, celebrating the diversity of these first steps, much like the celebration of a sporting victory. Promoting the "small victories" along the paths the paths of those who engage in a basic training process testifies that illiteracy is not a fatality.

EPALE France supports the actions of ANLCI and presents you some of these portraits.

Examples of descriptions chosen to describe the feeling experienced at the end of the training:
