Centre for Foreign Languages ANGLIA - Erasmus+ Project: Engaging Adult Learners: Creativity, Interactive Teaching, Effective Classroom Management Strategies

Centre for foreign languages Anglia was founded in 1995 in Novi Sad. It is a private language school which organizes English and German language courses for children, teenagers and adults and prepares students for the Cambridge exams. The motivated and well-experienced teacher team in Anglia is in continuous search of new professional development opportunities and exchange of good practices with colleagues both locally and internationally.

The project Engaging Adult Learners: Creativity, Interactive Teaching, Effective Classroom Management Strategies has been created with the goal of increasing the competencies of the teachers in the centre for foreign languages Anglia, which will in turn improve the quality of teaching and enhance motivation of adult students which will result in the improvement of the students' language level and shorten the period of transition to upper educational levels.

To achieve this goal three teachers in Anglia have been chosen to attend professional development courses in Barcelona, Konstanz and Dublin which focus on improving teachers' competencies in the areas which were identified as key ones for the development of the school. During the mobility periods the participants will develop ICT competencies, master innovative classroom management techniques and methods (e.g. flipped classroom), develop creativity in teaching and exchange experiences and examples of good practice with teachers from other schools and countries abroad.

The activities within the project will have long-term benefits for the school and the teachers who work in Anglia as well as for the teachers from the other schools, their students and the schools they work in.

The expected results of the project for the institution include:

  • the application of what was learned in the classroom, which will improve the quality of teaching, meet the expectations of the students and enhance their motivation and active participation in learning activities;
  • the presentation of what was learned to the other teachers in the school via workshops and lesson observations, which will improve the quality of teaching in the whole school.

The expected results of the project on the local/national level involve:

  • transferring of what was learned to the teachers from other schools via workshops and presentations, which will improve the quality of teaching in their institutions;
  • publishing articles in the ELTA Newsletter and on EPALE platform, which will inform teachers on new professional development opportunities they might want to become involved in.

On the international level the project focuses on making international contacts, which opens possibilities for further exchange of experiences and good practice as well as possible joint projects.
