Join Remind for a panel discussion with speakers from Remind, Twitter, Clever, CDW-G, IXL, and CourseHero. We will learn about their experiences as well as their advice for former educators looking to continue their passion for education in tech.

 

Panel Speakers:

Leanne Trujillo, Research Manager, Twitter

 

Leanne started her career as a Special Education/History teacher at a public high school in the Bronx, New York. After teaching, she pursued a full-time Masters degree and became interested in how research, policy, effective programming and technology could positively impact educational outcomes. Leanne is currently the Senior Program Manager for Academic Research at Twitter where she oversees Twitter's academic research & educational programs, connecting academic researchers across the world with Twitter, in order to produce research that leads to public policy changes.

 

Galen Spindel, Engineering Manager, Remind

 

Galen spent three years teaching seventh grade math and science in Hawai’i. Inspired by doing Khan Academy’s Hour of Code with her students, she left the classroom and attended a coding bootcamp. Shortly after completing the program she joined Remind, a communication platform aiming to give every student the opportunity to succeed. Five years later Galen is still working at Remind, now as an Engineering Manager.

 

Doug Konopelko, Education Strategist, CDW-G

 

Doug is a passionate educator, designer, writer, speaker, and leader who currently serves as an Education Strategist for CDW•G, a Fortune 500 and Fortune Future 50 IT Services company. In addition to his daily blog, Designed Edu, his writing has been published in EdTech Magazine, District Administration Magazine, on the CDW Solutions blog, and on the BYOT Network blog. On his education journey, he has served in both urban and suburban school districts as a teacher, adjunct faculty member, edtech consultant, high school assistant principal, school district administrator, and state education organization leader.

 

Daniel Haun, Senior Project Manager, CourseHero

 

After three years of teaching elementary grades in Las Vegas and abroad, Daniel began working in the edtech sector at MobyMax as an Editor, and then Lead Editor, for STEM subjects. At MobyMax, he helped develop their science and social studies programs designed to help students fill learning gaps through interactive manipulatives and standard based assessments. In 2016, Daniel joined Course Hero, an online college resource library that aims to help students graduate, as a Content Specialist. Daniel still works for Course Hero in the Bay Area as a Senior Project Manager on the product operations team.

 

Meghan Thompson, Learning Specialist, IXL

 

Meghan Thompson brings a wealth of education experience to her role as a District Partnership Specialist. Prior to joining IXL, she worked as a high school special education teacher, middle school math and ELA teacher, instructional coach, and middle school principal. Meghan is passionate about educational equity and believes educational technology plays a significant role in achieving it. As such, she enjoys facilitating adult learning and cares deeply about collaborating with educators to enhance their craft and create learning environments where all students can thrive.

 

Georgia Davis, Product Designer, Clever

 

Georgia Davis is a former teacher turned product designer at Clever. Her experience as a teacher taught her to use empathy and creativity towards solving design challenges. Her areas of focus include user research, interface design, and design system tooling. Previously she's worked with design teams at Gofundme and Udacity.
