This course is structured around the insights and data gathered from extensive surveys conducted with both students and teachers. These surveys have been instrumental in shaping the content and methodologies we will explore, ensuring that they are rooted in real-world educational needs and preferences. Our initial survey highlighted key areas within the current educational landscape where social media could significantly impact learning outcomes in mathematics. This feedback has directly influenced the selection of tools and content development strategies we will be discussing throughout this course. By understanding the preferences and challenges expressed by both teachers and students, we have tailored a curriculum that addresses these needs effectively. In response to the survey findings, we've curated a set of digital tools that are optimal for creating engaging, informative, and accessible math content. Each tool has been chosen not only for its functionality but also for its proven effectiveness in educational settings, as highlighted by our research. Throughout this training, we will dive into practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions where you will learn how to utilize platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to create compelling educational content that resonates with students and fosters a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.

The training is created under Mathfluencers Erasmus plus project.

This guide has sparked some brilliant ideas on how to make my math lessons more engaging and help students better understand math by utilizing social media. One key advantage is that social media allows students to hear the same topic explained from a different perspective, often making concepts clearer. Math influencers often bring their expertise to life with relatable, real-world examples that enrich the learning experience. As a new teacher, I also take ideas from math influencers to make lessons more engaging. Sharing links to their content can provide students with an additional layer of understanding for challenging topics. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok are particularly effective, offering visually appealing explanations, addressing common misconceptions, and connecting math concepts to practical applications. Integrating social media into math education not only bridges the gap between traditional teaching methods and modern digital habits but also reshapes students’ algorithms to prioritize educational content over distractions, like funny cat videos. This approach makes learning relevant, engaging, and impactful. Thank you for the material!
