Final International Dissemination Workshop – Innovative approaches for mentoring and supporting older adults for digital adoption

The GIRDA project (Gameplay for Inspiring Digital Adoption) addresses reluctance amongst older people to engage with digital products and assists both older people and those working with them to use social games as an introduction to the digital landscape. The project brought together partners from the UK, Slovenia, Macedonia and Austria and representatives of each will be presenting the results of the three-year project.

The free event will give researchers, policymakers and practitioners the chance to come together to share their expertise and ideas about how to introduce older people to digital technology through ultra-informal, game-based learning. It will incorporate innovative approaches for mentoring and supporting older adults for digital adoption.

Time: 13:30 – 17:30

Date: 1 July 2019

Location: Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, 39a Bartholomew Close, London EC1A 7JN

Members of the GIRDA project team will introduce the project and present findings, including on how game-based approaches can be adapted to different countries and contexts. We want to hear from practitioners and policymakers on how these approaches could be integrated into wider support services for older people, and agree new directions for action research which can be practically applied to the issue of digital exclusion in later life.

Support for travel and subsistence is available for delegates from outside the UK.  Travel from within the UK may be supported subject to agreement.
