"La scuola con me": a site for teaching and learning Italian

Język: EN
Document available also in: IT

It is known that on the Internet there are million of helpful aids for teaching languages. But not everything suits us and it’s not always easy to quickly find again what we need. Not to mention when we have to skip from one web page to another one during the same lesson. For this reason I decided to create the blog La scuola con me (The School with Me).

La scuola con me is a site continuously in progress. It contains material available for free to everybody who wants to teach or learn Italian as a foreign or second language. The blog collects readings, videos, songs, links to a lots of tools and activities: exercises divided by level, online dictionaries, a verb conjugator, and more. When I started to build the blog, in December 2015, I felt I had a lot to learn and I needed to quickly collect plenty of material. Therefore links to external sites prevail in the blog (sources are always cited). But a future perspective could be to increase the amount of original material.

Everything began in my classroom. I work in La Spezia (Italy) where I teach Italian in the local Centre for Adult Education (CPIA). As you have probably understood, I liked the idea of accessing educational files from my computer and the most interesting activities that I was finding in the ocean of the net rapidly and efficiently. Certainly there is a number of ways to collect educational material. Every way has its own peculiarities and advantages. One of the main feature of the blog is that everybody, both teachers both students, can easily access it from any part of the world at any time. For this reason it’s called La scuola con me: everywhere there is an Internet connection, the blog can be “with me” (“con me”).

At school, to use the blog, all it takes is to connect a computer to an interactive whiteboard or a video projector. In the classroom, projecting on a screen has advantages of various kinds. From an educational point of view, we can get increased attention, thanks to the audiovisual method, and greater involvement of the students, because they can really work together on the same activity. From an economic-ecological point of view, we can save on photocopies and paper in general. What’s more, after lessons, students can practise when and where they want, following their teacher’s suggestions or just their own interests, and working on any device, smartphone included. Furthermore, in addition to that, it’s possible to leave a comment on the blog or follow its activities through a recently created Facebook page.

"La scuola con me" is a new site for me and I am happy that I've found it. I'm a beginner, and I need basic level.  I found Italiano A1 level and I'm using in now. For me.. it's always hard to start learning because I don't know which materials are good for me. There are plenty of information on internet... So It's hard to stick to one source. But this website attracts with it's design and it's information. Big thanks to creaters.
