Se comprobó que uno de los obstáculos para la no participación de los adultos en la educación y la capacitación era el fracaso previo en el aprendizaje, interpretado como experiencias negativas de educación previa (proyecto DIMA 2.0, 2020; Paterson, 2018; Roosmaa y Saar, 2017). Estas experiencias, que también se encontraron como barreras dispositivas, de actitud o internas, producen una sensación de insuficiencia e incapacidad para el aprendizaje. Estas percepciones y sentimientos mantienen a muchos adultos alejados de la educación ulterior, incluso si tienen las aptitudes necesarias. Esta categoría de adultos suele presentar bajos niveles de confianza en sí mismos, miedo al fracaso y actitudes negativas hacia su aprendizaje (MacKeracher, Suart & Porter, 2006). Según la Dra. Carol Dweck, estas son características de una mentalidad fija.

The aim of this report is to formulate the necessary learning outcomes to be covered in the future HAePPI training programme. One of the barriers for non-participation of adults in education and training was found to be previous failure in learning, interpreted as negative prior education experiences (DIMA 2.0 project, 2020; Paterson, 2018; Roosmaa & Saar, 2017). Also found as dispositional, attitudinal, or internal barriers, these experiences produce a sense of inadequacy and inability towards learning. These perceptions and feelings hold many adults away from further education, even if they have the required skills. This category of adults usually presents low levels of self-confidence, fear of failure, and negative attitudes towards their learning (MacKeracher, Suart & Porter, 2006). According to Dr. Carol Dweck, these are characteristics of a fixed mindset.

Higher education graduates are increasingly experiencing the challenges of the changing work life. They too must start thinking own competences, skills and experiences. Most advise given is how to make a Curriculum Vitae. Yet, the first step in that is how to productise own skills, experiences, competences and the professional self to potential employers. Within Reboot project (see the description box below), we have created a process, based on Design Thinking, for productising one’s own skills, competences and experiences for a potential employment. The first step is though, to recognise own experiences, hard and soft skills, characteristics and competences, and at the end one should showcase the productised professional self with portfolios.
