Illuminated | The Neuroscience of Learning for Teachers (MOOC)
Project Illuminated is an Erasmus+ Programme project (2017-2020) that brings together experts in education technology, teacher development and cognitive neuroscience to support teachers in making use of knowledge from neuroscience in their teaching practice (http://www.illuminatedproject.eu/). The project partnership includes universities and private enterprises: Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), University of Helsinki (Finland) and Metropolia UAS (Finland), University of Western Macedonia (Greece), Advancis (Portugal), and Boon (Portugal).
The aim of the project is to increase awareness and use of effective teaching strategies that align with the science of learning and the Illuminated team has developed a wide range of Open Educational Resources. One of those OER is this MOOC: The Neuroscience of Learning for Teachers (IL101, available at https://tidex.upf.edu/), a free online course featuring neuroscientists from the University of Helsinki who share insights into understanding and enhancing learning.
It consists of three modules: (1) Introduction to the Science of Learning; (2) Empirical Evidence on Learning; (3) Good Habits to Enhance Learning. Enrolling in the course gives you access to videos, audio, articles reflection tasks, and discussions. You can choose to complete the entire course, a single module, or just access the resources that are most meaningful to you. Transcripts of the videos are available in Spanish, Greek and Portuguese.
