The Digital Transformation and Innovation in Further Education event recognises that employers continually seek graduates with a high level of digital skills and that it is important for the FE sector to ensure graduates meet this requirement. This means that teachers need to encourage the use of digital methods across the curriculum and help to excel technological progress.

Learners expect the FE sector to keep up-to-date with changes and advancements in technology, to champion these in their institutions and not to be afraid of experimenting with different approaches. Teachers must feel confident in delivering education that utilises technology and enhances the learning experience through digital mediums.
The use of technologies that embrace innovation and play an important role in meeting the needs of today’s learners include:
- Cloud services
- Flipped classrooms
- Augmented and virtual reality
- Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs)
- Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
Teachers, digital developers and education leaders are likely to find this event particularly appealing. Delegates can share their experiences and offer advice on using technology to better the student learning experience. Technology can influence teaching, learning, assessment, communication and student welfare.
Keynote speakers at this year’s event are:
- Michelle Swithenbank – Chief Executive and Principal – Hull College Group. Michelle will consider how to put innovation at the heart of culture and the curriculum.
- Chris Rothwell – Director of Education – Microsoft. Chris’ focus will be announced at a later date.
Delegates will also be able to attend three breakout sessions including:
- Office 365
- Blended learning
- Learning apps
- Google apps
- Virtual and augmented reality
- Digital content authoring tools
More sessions will be added at a later date.
