Tala med de nyanlända, inte om dem. Det var en av grundtankarna med ett så kallat ”to do”-seminarium som ägde rum på Gotland i april 2016.

Arbetsmodellen kallas idag ”to do” men liknar 70-talsmetoden ”Framtidsverkstad”. Man utgår från en frågeställning, i det här fallet ”Hur kan vi tillvarata nyanlända gotlänningars kompetenser?”. De 60 seminariedeltagarna delades in grupper om högst 6 personer, och det fanns minst en nyanländ i varje grupp.

"Ivrigt diskuterande kommer de två kvinnorna gående längs Mannerheimvägen, Helsingfors huvudgata. Den ena är kort med svart hår, den andra ljus och lite längre. Deras sätt att umgås tyder på att de har känt varandra länge. Vi sätter oss alla tre ned i Svenska Teaterns café i hjärtat av Helsingfors och jag får höra närmare om hur de två kvinnorna blivit vänner. Det visar sig att Guo Chen och Carola Nyman de facto har känt varandra i bara tre månader. De fick kontakt inom ramen för mentorprogrammet FIKA som drivs av det finlandssvenska informations- och kulturcentret Luckan.

Fire statlige spesialpedagogiske kompetansesenter for hørselshemmede gjennomfører 33 av de 40 ukene. Ål folkehøyskole og kurssenter for døve gjennomfører 7 av de 40 ukene.
