Environmental awareness and protection

The European Commission has recently presented the European Green Deal, which is an ambitious package of measures that should enable Europeans to benefit from sustainable green transition and also represents the new EU growth strategy. Above all, the European Green Deal sets a path for a transition that is just and socially fair. It is designed in a way as to leave no one behind in the great transformation ahead.

To create a more sustainable world and to engage with sustainability-related issues, individuals must become sustainability change-makers (4th Global Report on Adult Learning and Education, UNESCO). For that to happen, citizens need to develop a set of competences to tackle inequalities in participation and fully engage with social dimensions such as environmental protection, climate change and responsible consumption. A vibrant adult learning and education system plays a key role in creating a more sustainable world.

Here at EPALE we strongly believe that adult education can foster and support the promotion of skills that enable active citizenship and people engagement. Indeed, adult education plays a crucial role in fighting against growing inequalities. Visit EPALE regularly, there will always be something new to discover on Environmental awareness and protection!

Do you know of worthwhile ideas and good practices on responsible consumption and environmental protection? Have you been involved in successful projects with a focus on environmental awareness? Share your experience with our community, you can do that by publishing content on our blog, newsroom, event calendar and resource centre!

Paldies.

We ,human beings, are suitable for living in nature; that is to say: in green, light blue, fresh air and chirp. Every human feel him/herself relaxed and fresh in/among those above. This may well be seen as mutualism, but nature does not need us while we are dependent on it. It survives, improves and shines without us. However, we cannot do these; we “run on” nature and that’s why we MUST save and take good care of it. Don’t harm; it’s enough.

One of the best teachers, Prophet Muhammad Mustapha(may peace be on him) says (as far as I remember) two things on this fact: “If you can’t protect the street, don’t go out” “Even if you know that Apocalyse is about to break out, plant the seed you have”

Nevertheless we take it from out ancestors or owe it to our children; it does’t make any difference, WE HAVE TO PROTECT the nature and our environment; at least for our own well-being.

Are you a language teacher who wishes to bring environmental awareness and environmental protection into the language classroom? If so the e-learning course Language Teaching for the Planet will help you do this by providing three weeks of study with a great focus on interacting and sharing knowledge with other language teacher participants. The course moderator comes from an English language teaching background, but is actively seeking participants who are teachers of other languages for the valuable cross fertilization of ideas that they can bring.

What makes this course so exciting is exploring just what an important contribution language teachers can make in acting on environmental issues, and the ways that they can empower students to act at the same time as creating a valuable language learning experience.

I would be very glad to welcome teachers of all languages on the next run of the course starting March 8th and ending 29th March 2020.

Asociácia spotrebiteľských subjektov Slovenska v decembri 2019 predstavila učiteľom v základných a stredných školách  štyridsať vyučovacích hodín, ktoré podporujú rozvoj kľúčových kompetencií v oblasti udržateľnej spotreby. Aktuálna spoločenská výzva je zakomponovaná v súčasných cieľoch vzdelávania, aby sme žiakov viedli k poznávaniu, uvedomovaniu a formovaniu uvedomelého spotrebiteľského správania.
