The EBSN EPALE Team is glad to announce its second and third online course for policy-makers, experts and other professionals who have a stake in basic skills policy and are currently engaged in the implementation of the Upskilling Pathways recommendation.

It depends on relationships whether different aspects related to education, refugees, the young and the old, training and economic activity will reveal themselves to you. A learning mobility is also a little bit like looking into the future, at least for someone from the periphery of Europe. You also learn new things.

The object of the Project "Learn, practise and work" is to provide the opportunities to improve professional skills at companies and vocational training centers abroad to students of Rezekne Technical School, in this way ensuring their development of professional and personal competences and increasing competitiveness in the labor market.

n terms of adult educators, the problems related to learning in the workplace fall into two main categories. 1.    The first is to understand and reveal how individuals solve workplace problems through learning, which are becoming increasingly complex and even difficult to notice. Some of these problems are: a.    to bring interdisciplinary teams and work together in integrating new technologies and improving the flow of business processes, b.    to end inequalities and prejudices in the workplace, and c.    to allow individuals to become aware of their own power to change the conditions of their work.
Lack of adequate corporate training can cause employees to be unhappy, decrease customer satisfaction and avoidable conflicts. According to a report by the London School of Economics (LSE), which analysed data from 1.8 million employees from 73 countries, happy employees are more productive and do not consider quitting their jobs, while improving customer loyalty and company profitability. As employee satisfaction increases, productivity increases by 26%, while employee circulation decreases by 25%.

We cannot afford to let the future of our communities, nations or children be determined by post-truth politics, fake-news, myths, algorithms, unicorns, multi-nationals or privileged elites! Dafydd Rhys argues why a revived, broad based and adequately funded network of life-long learning chances are needed to facilitate the rebuilding of communities and address the democratic deficits, both locally, nationally and in workplaces. At the heart of that provision should be an empowering non-partisan democratic engagement curriculum.

This blog summarises personal reflections on a professional development day spent with middle managers from three further education colleges looking at ‘developing a culture of excellence through collaboration’. The event was facilitated by Sue Keenan of Myerscough, Stef Wilkinson from Barnsley and Tam Breeze from Kendal who took the participants on a journey exploring curriculum, through organisational strategy to the importance of culture. It relates to the findings of the Healthy, Wealthy and Wise: implications for workforce development report and forms of the ninth blog of the series.
