In later years the EU Commission has been very interested in using apprenticeships to create more opportunities in the labour market for young people. Youth unemployment is lower in countries where young people can be trained in the workplace and get a job that way. The best examples are found in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while vocational training has had good results in Denmark and the Netherlands too.

"Ma il 'periodo d'oro' di interesse per l'apprendistato dovrebbe lasciare il posto a un 'periodo d'oro' di attuazione delle strategie", scrive Jeff Bridgford del King's College di Londra.

Training for workplace instructors (3 credits) comprises three modules providing students with the capabilities required in order to plan training at the workplace, vocational skills demonstrations and competence tests, to instruct students and assess learning, as well as equipping the students or candidates with vocational skills.
