TALES@home – Talking About Language and EmotionS at Home - Empowering multilingual families.

Mibgħuta minn Hilde DE SMEDT 1 year 5 xhur ilu

L-Erbgħa 23 Ottubru 2019 to Il-Ġimgħa 25 Ottubru 2019

TALES@home is a tool for multilingual families, with a strong family-centred approach. It can be used to enhance the language environment at home and in situations where the language choices have an influence on individual family members’ wellbeing and language learning abilities. Varied activities are helping the different family members to reflect on their language use (especially at home), linked emotions and expectations. Secondly they are encouraged to talk about these issues in an open and respectful way. The role of the professional during the use of the tool is to reinforce this reflection and communication.

The tool is available for professionals speaking English, German, French, Italian, Lithuanian and Dutch.

In this course we will present the wider perspective of sustaining multilingual families to help to create a stimulating language learning environment taking into account the wellbeing of each family member. There will be time to exchange experiences and cases. Participants will practice the use of the tool. The visits create the possibility to observe activities with children/parents.

Our methodology will try to stimulate active participation and sharing of all participants involved. In this way, we aim to build a diverse and stimulating environment for reflecting, working and learning.

After the confirmation and before starting, we check the previous knowledge and experience of participants, as well as their specific needs related to the topics of our training course. Every participant will be asked to prepare a short family case.

Follow up
Trainers and company will be available for any further questions  after the end of the course, either through e-mail, virtual, individual Skype calls, telephone or WhatsApp. By means of all these tools, we aim to get an effective follow-up, to stimulate networking, to keep in touch and to share opinions, experiences and practices.

Course fee: The course fee is 300 euro, including lunch. The accommodation or travel is not included, but we will offer advice for a suitable accommodation in Brussels to bring participants (if they want so) together at the same location.

Registration: The places are given on a first-come, first-served basis. The courses will run if there are a minimum of 10 participants.  The course will be confirmed about 3 months before. Email  to book and confirm your places!

This is a very productive and interesting Erasmus+ KA2-project ! It's a very good idea to spread its outcomes via an international course ! Organisations in adult education that want to send representatives to attend this course can apply in Feb 2019 via Erasmus+ KA1 (individual learning mobility) for funding (travel costs / course fee / accommodation...) !
