(episode 0) - Interviews with stakeholders series

Intercultural and social competences are considered crucial in the training of tomorrow's professionals, both in the context of professional mobility and in the development of an inclusive society. International policy and educational recommendations call for the training of "intercultural intellectuals" (Council of Europe White Paper, 2008) or for training in "intercultural citizenship" (UNESCO, 2013). The development of "intercultural competences" has become a major objective in the portfolio of skills of professionals in education, training, social and medico-social work.

 Whatever the type of audience concerned by intercultural training, the aim is to train individuals who are able to "act and communicate effectively and appropriately in intercultural situations in order to achieve their objectives" (Berardo & Deardorff, 2012). Vocational training and adult education have a key role to play in training professionals to be sensitive and capable of acting for social equity, participatory democracy and tolerance.

Today, we are giving the floor to the various actors, including researchers, travellers, programme managers, managers of associations and citizens of the world.


This series of interviews and experiences presents crossed perspectives on interculturality and intercultural skills. The series will be enriched by interviews but also by your questions, remarks and comments, and by your stories.
