This research was carried out by the National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) and the Literacy Development Centre in Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). It is the latest in a series of research reports, published by NALA, that describe a range of adult literacy and numeracy programmes across Ireland. This report presents current teaching and learning practice in adult literacy provision in the context of the changing profiles of learners. It provides an in-depth insight into specific teaching strategies that are used to motivate and support adult literacy development. It is intended that by documenting and recording these motivational teaching strategies, this report will be a useful resource to those working in adult literacy in Ireland.

Lernwege, Kompetenzen und Zertifikate aus Sicht von Arbeitgebern und Arbeitnehmern untersucht diese Studie der Bertelsmann Stiftung. Erfragt wurde, welche Informationen über BewerberInnen für Arbeitgeber am wertvollsten sind. Dabei stellte sich heraus, dass es nicht Zeugnisse über Schulbesuch oder Uniabschlüsse und Ausbildungsnoten sind, sondern praktisch im Arbeitsleben erworbene Kompetenzen, die Arbeitgeber interessieren. Hierzu schauen sie nicht auf Zertifikate, sondern orientieren sich an Erkenntnissen aus Auswählgesprächen und Probezeit.

Samráðshópur GOAL verkefnisins (Guidance and Orientation for Adult Learners) kom saman í þriðja sinn í Mennta- og menningarmálaráðuneytinu þann 13. desember. Verkefnið fjallar um að efla samstarf hagsmunaaðila um að færa námstengda ráðgjöf nær þeim hópum sem sækja síst í nám. Á fundinum fóru verkefnastjórar yfir stöðu verkefnisins, Menntavísindastofnun Háskóla Íslands kynnti niðurstöður úr fyrsta rannsóknarhluta þess og náms- og starfsráðgjafar framkvæmdaraðilanna tveggja fóru yfir þróun ráðgjafar á sínum svæðum (Mímir símenntun á Höfuðborgarsvæðinu og Miðstöð símenntunar á Suðurnesjum). Margt bendir til þess að mun erfiðara sé að ná til þeirra hópa sem sækja síst í nám. Í gegnum samstarf við hagsmunaaðila á svæðunum (t.d. félagsþjónustuaðila og Vinnumálastofnun) hafa tilvísanir átt sér stað til símenntunarmiðstöðvanna þar sem einstaklingar koma í ráðgjafarviðtal og er boðið að taka þátt í GOAL verkefninu. Í verkefninu er boðið upp á lengri og fleiri viðtöl en venja er og jafnframt farið dýpra í vinnu með einstaklingnum. Vísbendingar eru um að sú aðferðafræði gefi góða raun fyrir hópinn og aukið samstarf hinna ýmsu þjónustuaðila sé gagnlegt til að virkja fleiri til náms og starfa. Hi everybody;

We are a formal, non-profit Public Training Centre in Turkey; and we are teaching on various topics: reading -writing classes for immigrants, foreign language classes, jewellery design classes, ceramics classes, computer technology classes, child, patient and the old care (teaching on caring) classes, needlecraft classes etc. 

We have very hardworking colleagues in our organisation, and at the end of the courses we give fully formal and valid certificates to our learners. In a school term, we educateabout 1500 learners.
