In der vergangenen Woche kamen führende Politiker aus allen Mitgliedstaaten der Vereinten Nationen in New York zu der größten Konferenz von Staats- und Regierungschefs zusammen, die je stattgefunden hat. Bei diesem Treffen ging es um die Verabschiedung neuer Ziele für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung – aber wurde dabei auch die Erwachsenenbildung ausreichend berücksichtigt? Die Auszeichnungen wurden bei der jährlichen Preisverleihung der UNESCO übergeben, um Organisationen zu ehren, die geholfen haben, die Bedeutung der Literalität zu unterstreichen.

Die fünf Empfänger der heurigen, internationalen UNESCO Alphabetisierungspreise waren Organisationen aus Chile, Madagaskar, Mozambik, der Slowakei und Sri Lanka.

The ultimate aim is to provide Member States with hard data and comparisons on which any necessary adjustments in their approach to foreign language teaching and learning can be based.
