Donna Moore pracuje v oblasti podpory gramotnosti a matematickej gramotnosti dospelých v Ženskej knižnici v Glasgowe . Podporuje ženy v čítaní a písaní, nech má akúkoľvek formu.
Pracuje so ženami, ktoré sa z rôznych príčin nikdy nenaučili čítať ani písať. Niektoré zažili týranie či traumu, sú utečenky alebo majú poruchu učenia. Iné ženy sa po dlhom čase mimo vzdelávacieho procesu vracajú na vysokú školu, chcú napísať vlastný príbeh, vylúštiť krížovku alebo si chcú prečítať báseň. Zapájam sa aj do mnohých ďalších aktivít, ako sú workshopy tvorivého písania, divadlo a čokoľvek spojené s dejinami žien.

Identifying Barriers to Learning – A Special Educational Needs Masterclass

Statistics in Europe suggest that at least 15.4% of the school population have a special educational need which is defined thus ‘A child or young person has Special Educational Needs (SEN) if he or she has learning difficulties or disabilities that make it harder for him or her to learn than most other children and young people of about the same age’. Barriers to learning range from Severe and Complex learning difficulties at the low end of the spectrum to Giftedness at the high end of the spectrum. Between these two extremes will be a range of more specific learning difficulties which include Dyslexia, Dyspraxia (DCD), Dyscalculia, ADD and ADHD; conditions nowadays common in our homes and classrooms. Many children and young people will have special educational needs of some kind during their education. Early years settings, schools, colleges and other organisations, as well as parents, can help most children and young people overcome their difficulties by increasing their awareness and understanding of the most common difficulties encountered and learning how to identify and support the remediation of these difficulties as early as possible. This course is aimed at all those professionals and paraprofessionals who wish to gain a greater understanding of the most common specific learning difficulties, how these can be identified, formally diagnosed and ultimately supported in a positive and effective way for all.

Rohkem kui kunagi varem on täiskasvanuhariduse pakkujatel aeg siin EPALE-s üksteisega ühendust luua ning jagada ja inspireerida.
Kogukonna koostöö käivitamiseks teeme üleskutse kogu täiskasvanuhariduse kogukonnale jagada EPALE-s oma lugusid, kogemusi ja lahendusi oma partneritega.

They are volunteer workers, digi-guides in a retiree association. Their backgrounds are quite different; Juhani Pörtfors is an adult educator and Matti Sarviranta is an engineer. They are peer tutors and they are trained to work as Digi-guides.

In disasters, the role of education and learning is increasingly seen as important. This study considers how community learning in disasters may be conceptualized using an ecological model of learning that operates on different levels, from small and incremental to large and paradigm changing. These types of learning are not independent, but are interdependent. This is a dynamic model of community learning compared to approaches that consider learning as a mere aggregation of individual responses.

The purpose of the visit was to share and increase knowledge, develop understanding and collate research on Adult Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Language) practices.

Donna Moore is the the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Development Worker at Glasgow Women’s Library. She works with some women who have never learned to read and write – for many reasons: they may have experienced abuse or trauma, or are refugees, or have a learning disability. Other women are going back to college after a long period out of learning, or want to write their own story, or do a crossword, or read a poem. Everything Donna does is learner led.
