Next week, the pilot courses for adults start within the retraining program „Choose IT!“. There were 462 candidates for free course, and the 40 trainees were chosen.
The course was intended for people with higher education, who have not worked in IT jobs so far, but who want in future to find work in the IT-sector.
A manager of the BCS Koolituse Ants Sild said that the IT-education has gained popularity among highly educated specialists with considerable life and work experience.
The average trainee is a 34-year-old specialist with higher education, and more than a half trainees live in Harjumaa.
There was more or less an equal share of men and women in the pilot program. The trainees operate in very different spheres: financial management, genic technology, law, accounting, e-trading, geodesy, marketing, training, etc.'
„Choose IT!“ main program starts this autumn. In the years of 2017 – 2020, free courses which are 3.5 months long will be offered to 500 people all together.
The program is funded from the European Social fund via a support scheme „Increasing digital literacy“, and its implementation is guided by the Ministry of Economics and Communication.
The participants in the training program undergo the complete 6-week study (5 days a week, 8 academic hours a day) in a training centre of the BCS Koolitus and IT Koolitus. It is followed by the 8-week practice (40 working days by 8 academic hours a day) at enterprises.
