This is what the EC is doing to improve adult learning

On 19 September 2017, EPALE Belgium organized an event titled 'What is the European Commission doing to improve adult learning?', in cooperation with the European Commission and the European Association for the education of Adults (EAEA) since the event was a part of the EAEA Younger Staff Training 2017

The afternoon started with a quiz presented by the three Belgian EPALE-coordinators to find out how well the participants know the platform for adult learning that is co-financed by the European Commission to improve and support the adult learning sector in Europe.

A part of the participants then went to visit the House of European History while the Younger Staff Training participants had a workshop on the DIMA project. This is an Erasmus+ program that aims to develop a practical toolkit for developing and monitoring strategies on Adult Education.

After their return Martina Ní Cheallaigh from DG Employment at the European Commission explained what the Commission has been doing to improve policy and provision for adult learning in Europe. Gina Ebner from EAEA took a look at the role of civil society. Then the participants discussed what they had learned, what this meant for people in adult education in their everyday job, and what support is needed to improve adult learning.

    Merci pour ce retour sur cette journée. Ces citations des participants sont des retours d'expériences intéressants et me donnet envie d'y réagir. La formation tout au long de la vie doit effectivement être appréhendée  plus dans une logique qui n'est pas exclusivement liée à l'employabilité. Cela étant, si la formation est un levier d'épanouissement, elle le sera d'autant plus chez une personne salariée. Et c'est bien connu, l'apprentissage tout au long de la vie est bien plus utilisé chez les personnes qualifiées. 

    C'est pourquoi j'aime beaucoup la proposition d'un des participants de revoir la manière de "mesurer l'éducation". 

    PS : Dima doit être un projet Erasmus+ dans le programme du même nom ;)
