Sakarya University (SAU) which is located in the neighborhood of İstanbul, is the second university in Turkey regarding the social responsibility projects carried out by the students and the 5th in R&D projects supported by international funds. Furthermore, it carries out sustainability projects in the areas such as electric and unmanned automobile vehicles, alternative energy sources, batteries, washable and replaceable filter masks one of which is within the scope of HORIZON. The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative by Universitas Indonesia in 2010. Sakarya University was evaluated in this initiative in 2020 and 2021 within the framework of green campus and sustainability moves. While it has been ranked 312th among 912 universities participated in 2020; it has risen to the 208th among 956 universities. These show that SAU has the ability and potential to initiate green projects and the students of SAU are motivated to take role in sustainability projects.

Aim of the Project:

Establishment of an efficient and green transformation compatible international trade expert network and adaptation of Turkish and European entrepreneurs and managers to the Green Deal strategy of the EU in order to increase the foreign trade potential of Turkey and the partner in Europe.

Activities:

-A workshop will be organized on the topic of "The European Green Deal and the Future of International Trade" with the participation of the expert team and the audience invited by the partner countries.

-As the result of the workshop a Content of Training Program of "Education on International Trade in Compliance with the Green Deal with the Climate Neutral target" will be determined by the experts towards international trade entrepreneurs and expert candidates. In addition, the instructors who are capable of teaching in specified topics will be determined as a result of this workshop. The workshop notes and the Content of Training Program will be published as an open source.

-An education program designed according to the results of the workshop will be organized. This program will be promoted through various channels in order to reach participants who are international trade entrepreneurs and expert candidates in partner countries.

Expected results of the project:

In accordance with the knowledge obtained in the education program, the participants are expected to implement sustainable international trade operations such as sustainable product development and green logistics in their businesses. 

The awareness of the possible impact of Green Deal on the exports of the project partner countries to EU, will be spreaded by the help of the increase in the experts in this field.
