During the months of October, November and December, EPALE UK will be focusing on the theme of adult learning in the workplace. The workplace is a well-established learning environment: formal training; mentoring; line managing; presenting; and building communication, teamwork and organisation skills all contribute greatly to a learner’s professional development. To celebrate this theme further and to engage users in the subject, we will be holding our third and final Star Supporter Competition for 2019!

How to enter

To enter, users will need to write a mini blog post of between 400-500 words that explores the positive impacts of adult learning at work and submit it between 12pm on 21 October 2019 and 12pm on 09 January 2020. Any entries received outside of this date cannot be considered for entry. The blog post could focus on a particular project, a new training strategy or any other example of learning in the workplace. See our mini blog post top tips document to help you write your blog post and ensure you are producing quality content for the platform.

  1. Read the Terms & Conditions and the Privacy Statement
  2. Complete the blog post template with your consent and use the checklist at the bottom of the template to ensure you have included all the essential information.
  3. Complete the Consent Form. Please be sure to give your consent on the consent form – any entries received without consent will not be entered into the competition, but may still be considered for general publication.
  4. Submit your completed template and Consent Form to epaleuk@ecorys.com, using the email subject: ‘EPALE UK Star Supporter’ between 12pm 21 October 2019 and 12pm 09 January 2020.
  5. Promote your content to gain likes and comments on the platform between 12pm 10 January 2020 and 12pm 24 January 2020. See our section below for further information about promotion.

Promotion

Although EPALE will promote the competition, we are unable to show preference by promoting individual submissions. It is hugely beneficial to self-promote across your own networks and social media channels in order to encourage users to vote for your content. Competition entries that self-promoted in previous rounds received the highest engagement and often won.

Only likes and comments gained on the platform will be counted for voting purposes – we cannot count votes from other forms of social media. However, as discussed, using social media to drive users towards the platform to vote is greatly encouraged.

Stars

On 23 October 2019, EPALE UK and the Learning & Work Institute held a joint conference in London. The focus of the conference was adult learning and workforce development and speakers explored the Healthy, Wealthy and Wise: implications for workforce development report produced by the Learning & Work Institute. The report calls for greater collaboration across the adult learning sector and other services in order to prepare learners for the ever-changing employment landscape. Users may find the collection of blog posts relating to the report and conference to be inspirational and help them to focus on their own work-focused blog post submissions for the competition.

Entries will be displayed on this page from 10 January 2020 till 24 January 2020 for users to vote for their favourite blog posts.
