Dear EPALE colleagues,
International Women’s Day
On 8 March EPALE celebrated International Women’s Day by having a special focus on the role of women as learners and trainers in adult education (available in 19 EU languages). We got in touch with some inspirational women from the sector and asked them to share their thoughts:
- Adult learning is a feminine sector – is that why we don’t have enough money? Gina Ebner, Secretary-General of the European Association for the Education of Adults, voiced her opinion on gender divides (DE, EN, ES, FR, IT, PL)
We interviewed activist and academic Maria Pisani on what inspired her to work with female migrant learners in Malta (DE, EN, ES, FR, IT, PL)
Dr. Vida A. Mohorčič Špolar from the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education reflected on how adult learning can help to address gender inequality (EN)
Dr Vicky Duckworth, senior lecturer in further education at Edge Hill University, shared her thoughts on how gendered literacies are empowering learners (EN).
News from around Europe
Governments across Europe are making changes to adult education in their countries:

e-Training to show teachers how they can use Moodle to create online courses has been organised in Poland (PL).
The Slovenian government has adopted the 2016 Annual Programme for Adult Education (SL).
Did you know: EPALE is available in the 24 languages of the EU and each language version has unique content, curated by our national teams across Europe. However, EPALE can now be accessed in 67 more languages thanks to the newly implemented Google Translate feature.
