The European Commission has recently published a new synthesis report on the current situation of national adult learning policies and systems across the EU-28. The report brings together findings fron a set of full country reports updated in 2017. The full country reports have been published for each member state and can be found here.
The full report for the United Kingdom provides updates on adult learning in the UK and measures progress against the EU2020 targets and the EU average in the areas of:
- employment;
- participation in lifelong learning; and
- attainment levels.
The UK report provides a brief overview of the adult learning system and provision in the UK and investment in the same, an assessment of the existing policy, outlining strengths and weaknesses. Adult learning policies across the four nations of the UK are outlined along with future policy developments.
